Spottedleaf and Fireheart- The Story of Their Kits

(If you haven’t read Spottedleaf+Firepaw, please read it before this! It’s very important! Also, this is after Bluestar dies, and Fireheart becomes leader, but before BloodClan comes. And the kits’ names are {From left to right}: Birchkit, Hollykit and Flarekit. Birchkit is the only male, the others are females. This story is based on Flarekit’s point of view.)

Flarekit ran out of the nursery, followed by Birchkit and Hollykit. They ran over to Sorrelkit, Rainkit and Sootkit, who were playing mossball.

“Can we join?” Flarekit squeaked.

“No! We don’t want you freaks to play with us!” Sneered Sootkit, his fur fluffing up.

Birchkit let out a hiss of anger and pounced on Sootkit. Sootkit yowled in pain.

Willowpelt ran out of the nursery, followed by Spottedleaf, their mother.

“Birchkit! Get off Sootkit!” Gasped Spottedleaf.

“”He called us freaks!” Snarled Birchkit, his yellow/orange eyes flashing angrily.

“Sootkit!” Gasped Willowpelt, staring at her son.

Sootkit’s pelt blazed with shame, but his eyes gleamed with defiance.

“You will say sorry, they are not freaks; they are your Clanmates, and you need to respect them.” Willowpelt hissed, her eyes flashing.

“I agree.” Growled their father, Whitestorm, as he padded up.

Sootkit’s eyes filled with a little fear, and all the defiance dissapeared.

“Yes, Whitestorm. Yes, Willowpelt.” Muttered Sootkit.

Hollykit huddled by Flarekit, her fur down and her eyes wide with fear.

“I’m sorry.” Meowed Sootkit, turning to the three little kits.

Flarekit smiled at Sootkit, her green eyes glowing.

“Would you like to play mossball with me?” Rainkit asked, walking up to Hollykit.

“I-I don’t know.” Hollykit meowed hesitantly.

“Please?” Rainkit mewed, his eyes filling with hope.

“S-Sure.” Hollykit meowed, nodding bravely, a little scared, though.

Hollykit followed Rainkit to the mossball. A minute later, Sorrelkit and Birchkit joined them.

Sootkit walked over to Flarekit, his eyes unreadable.

“Hey, I’m sorry for being mean…I just was annoyed with…someone.” He meowed, his eyes apoligetic.

“I-It’s okay.” She meowed, giving him a small smile.

“Do you want to sneak out of camp with me?” He asked deviously.

“N-Now?” She meowed, wide-eyed.

“Ya! You have to admit, the camp is boring!” Sootkit meowed, his eyes widening.

“It is…” Flarekit agreed, slowly.

“Then let’s go!” Sootkit meowed, his eyes shining.

Sootkit led her to the dirt place, they peeked in, no one was using it. Then, they snuck into it and under the brambles, out of camp.

“Woah! It’s so big!” Squeaked Flarekit, staring at a tree.

“Come on, mouse brain! Let’s go to Sunningrocks!” Sootkit teased.

“Okay!” She purred.

They ran towards the river, to the group of smooth rocks.

“Wait, I smell RiverClan!” Hissed Sootkit, stopping while they were in the bushes.

“We should go get Firestar!” Meowed Flarekit.

A strange spotted she-cat jumped on the Sunningrocks.

“Today, we claim Sunningrocks as our territory once more!” She yowled.

Sootkit whirled around, running off towards their camp. Flarekit went to follow, when someone picked her up.

“Hey, Leopardstar! Look at this little kit I found!” Sneered the tom holding her.

“Hmm…It looks like Firestar’s daughter.” Meowed the spotted she-cat, Leopardstar.

The tom placed her next to Leopardstar, who immediately put her front paw on her, preventing her from leaving.

Her father and mother burst into the clearing, followed by other warriors. Her mother gasped when she saw Leopardstar holding Flarekit, and Firestar bristled up.

“Give me my kit!” Snared Firestar, his eyes flashing furiously.

“I’ll give you her, in exchange for the Sunningrocks.” Purred Leopardstar.

“And if we don’t agree?” Hissed Firestar.

“Well then, I guess she’ll be spending sometime in RiverClan.” Purred Leopardstar, her eyes glowing.

“No!” Gasped Spottedleaf.

“You can have Sunningrocks…for now, just give me my kit.” Firestar snarled, his claws digging into the dirt.

Leopardstar smirked, and Flarekit bit down on her paw with sharp in pain and shoved Flarekit. Flarekit fell off the rock, onto the ground.

She yipped in pain as she landed on a sharp rock, cutting her back open.

Spottedleaf and Firestar immediately grabbed her, and Firestar yowled: “ThunderClan, attack!”

The warriors began fighting, and Spottedleaf licked Flarekit’s cut gently cleaning it.

Flarekit winced once, then Spottedleaf picked her up and set her on her back.

“RiverClan retreat!” Yowled Leopardstar, her eyes flashing angrily.

Firestar stood proudly, watching the cats flee.

“We should head back to camp so Yellowfang can look at Flarekit.” Spottedleaf meowed to Firestar.

Firestar nodded, glancing at Spottedleaf lovingly. He led the ThunderClan cats back towards their camp, his tail twined with Spottedleaf’s.

Spottedleaf and Firestar padded over to the Medicine Cat Den, and Yellowfang padded out, dock gripped in her mouth.

“Let me see her.” She ordered them.

Spottedleaf gently set Flarekit on the ground in front of Yellowfang.

Yellowfang briefly sniffed Flarekit’s wound, then began chewing up the dock.

“This is going to sting, darling.” Meowed Spottedleaf, crouching by her daughter.

“She’ll be fine.” Hissed Yellowfang, rolling her eyes.

Yellowfang pressed the dock onto the wound, and Flarekit gasped in pain as it stung.

“You’re fine.” Snapped Yellowfang, who was irritated.

Flarekit nodded, and blinked away the tears that had been gathering in her eyes.

“Why don’t we get you back to the nursery, so you can nap.” Purred Spottedleaf when Yellowfang finished.

“She should take it easy for the next few days.” Meowed Yellowfang gruffly.

Spottedleaf nodded and led Flarekit to the nursery. Sootkit, Sorrelkit and Rainkit were curled up next to their mom, eyes wide.

Birchkit and Hollykit were laying in their nest, unable to sleep.

“Flarekit!” Gasped Sootkit, jumping to his paws.

“Hi, Sootkit!” Purred Flarekit, her eyes shining.

“A-Are you okay?” He asked slowly.

“I’m fine!” She purred. “It’s just a scratch.” She added, showing him the herbs that went from her neck to her tail.

“Woah! Battle scar!” Meowed Birchkit, his eyes filling with pride, and a bit of jealousy.

Spottedleaf curled up around the three kits, and soon Flarekit drifted off to sleep.

A few moons passed, and Flarekit became an apprentice, along with her siblings and Willowpelt’s kits. Hollykit chose a different path, she became a Medicine Cat Apprentice, Yellowfang’s apprentice.

One day, the five apprentices, their mentors, (Sandstorm, Greystripe, Frostfur, Cloudtail and Longtail) and Firestar were laying on Sunningrocks, stretched out comfortably in the sun, when Leopardstar and her warriors ran across the river.

“RiverClan attack!” She yowled.

The five mentors and their leader attacked the warriors, while Sootpaw and Flarepaw met up to attack a large male RiverClan cat.

Sootpaw jumped on his back, digging his claws into the tom’s back. Flarepaw dove under him, scratching his stomach.

The tom yowled in pain and tried to roll over, but Flarepaw bit his leg, so he jumped the other way.

She held onto his leg with her teeth, biting harder, but not too hard. He yowled in pain and kicked his leg, forcing her off it, then he rolled over, squishing Sootpaw.

Sootpaw laid on the ground, not moving.

Anger filled Flarepaw, to the point where she could barely breath. She lashed out at the male, over and over again.

He backed away, before finally turning around and running. Flarepaw ran to Sootpaw, pressing her nose to her childhood friend and crush.

“Sootpaw?” She whimpered, forgetting about the battle behind her.

“RiverClan retreat!” Hissed Leopardstar as she ran off.

Frostfur ran over just as Sootpaw blinked his eyes open.

“What happened?” Frostfur asked worriedly.

“The male rolled, and I hit my head on a rock, I was knocked out but I’m fine now.” Sootpaw told his mentor before wincing.

“We should get you to Yellowfang.” Frostfur fretted.

Sootpaw went to object, but Flarepaw silenced him with a flick of her tail.

“We’re going.” She insisted, hissing.

“Okay, okay.” Agreed Sootpaw quickly.

Sootpaw leaned on Frostfur and the two she-cats brought him back to camp.

Yellowfang sniffed him over and gave him some herbs to eat, then sent him away.

“I’m glad you’re okay.” Flarepaw purred to Sootpaw as they walked to the prey-pile.

“Flarepaw…I have to tell you something.” Sootpaw meowed, stopping abruptly.

“Sootpaw-” Flarepaw began.

“I love you, Flarepaw, I have since you bravely followed me out of camp.” Meowed Sootpaw, silencing her with his tail. “You mean everything to me.”

“You mean everything to me too, Sootpaw, and I love you. When I saw the tom crush you, and I though that you might have died without me telling you the truth, well it just about killed me.” She whispered, her eyes filling with tears.

“I love you.” Purred Sootpaw, touching his muzzle to her’s.

“I love you.” Whispered Flarepaw.

(Spottedleaf’s Point of View)

Spottedleaf padded out of the Medicine Cat Den, glancing around the camp. She saw Firestar and walked over to him.

“Hello, my love!” She purred, touching her nose to his.

Firestar pulled his nose away, his eyes dark.

“What’s wrong?” She meowed, her eyes filling with sadness and hurt.

“I don’t know if we can be together anymore.” Firestar meowed sadly.

“W-Why not?!” Gasped Spottedleaf, her eyes filling with hurt.

“You’re still attached to being a Medicine Cat, I see how much you miss it.” Firestar whispered, staring at the ground.

Spottedleaf’s eyes filled with tears and she lifted Firestar’s head up with her tail.

“I do miss being a Medicine Cat, but if I went back to that, I’d miss you and our kits even more.” She meowed, insistently.

Firestar looked into her eyes and slowly smiled.

“My Medicine Cat days are over, I’m ready to move on in my life, with you and our kits.” Spottedleaf purred, smiling.

Firestar smiled even bigger. “I’m so glad!” He meowed. He touched his muzzle to her’s, his heart bursting with happiness.
